Corralejo Viejo

Corralejo Viejo is the town-side beach in Corralejo, giving visitors a simple, central bathing place close to cafés, harbour life and the lively northern resort atmosphere.

The Vibe

The atmosphere is social, easy and practical. Corralejo Viejo is not the wild dune coast south of town; it is the beach you use when you want the sea within walking distance of restaurants, shops and accommodation. That makes it particularly useful for families, couples and anyone staying in Corralejo without a car.

The mood is lively in season, but in a relaxed town-beach way. People move between breakfast cafés, the harbour, boat trips to Lobos and short swims close to the centre. The beach is compact compared with Grandes Playas, so it feels more immediate and local.

Corralejo Viejo works best as a convenient Blue Flag beach for a gentle swim, a morning dip or an easy family stop.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is Corralejo itself. The old fishing village has grown into one of Fuerteventura’s main resort towns, but the harbour, ferry link to Lobos and town beaches still give it a coastal identity beyond hotels.

Corralejo Viejo returned to the 2026 Blue Flag list under La Oliva, making it one of three awarded beaches in the municipality.

The Landscape

The beach has pale sand, volcanic edges and clear Atlantic water, with urban buildings and harbour activity nearby. It is sheltered compared with the open dune beaches further south, although wind remains part of the island’s character.

Its beauty is modest but useful: a town beach with sea colour, local movement and immediate access.
