Grandes Playas

Grandes Playas is the great dune-backed beach system south of Corralejo, where pale sand, turquoise water and the Corralejo Natural Park create Fuerteventura’s most iconic northern coast.

The Vibe

The atmosphere is open, bright and elemental. Grandes Playas feels very different from a normal resort beach. The setting is huge, wind-shaped and tied to the dunes, with space for swimmers, walkers, surfers, kitesurfers and visitors who simply want the classic Fuerteventura horizon.

It can be popular, especially near easier parking and hotel access points, but the scale of the beach keeps the mood spacious. Some sections feel family-friendly and relaxed; others feel more active because of wind and water-sports energy.

Grandes Playas suits visitors who want natural scenery without being too far from Corralejo. It is one of the best examples of Fuerteventura’s desert-meets-Atlantic character.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is Corralejo Natural Park. Visit Fuerteventura describes the Grandes Playas of Corralejo as nine kilometres of beaches bordered by the Corralejo Dunes, with fine white sand formed from sea-shell erosion.

The 2026 Blue Flag list includes Grandes Playas under La Oliva, alongside Corralejo Viejo and La Concha.

The Landscape

The landscape is vast and highly distinctive: white dunes, blue-green water, volcanic islands on the horizon and constant Atlantic air. The view toward Lobos and Lanzarote adds depth to the scene.

Sea conditions can change quickly with wind, so live wind and wave data are especially useful. This is open Atlantic coast rather than a sheltered cove, and it rewards being treated with that respect.
