Frejus

Fréjus is one of the most useful family beach bases on this stretch of the Var coast because it mixes a proper working town, Roman history, a marina, long sandy waterfronts and open public space. It does not have the sharp celebrity image of Saint-Tropez or the polished city feel of Monaco — and that is part of its appeal. The Vibe

The vibe is family and active. There are restaurants, cafés and the port nearby, but the mood is generally more grounded than flashy. The beach can still be busy in high summer, especially near the easiest access points, yet the length of the coast helps spread people out. The sandy shoreline makes it attractive for children, while the open exposure means it is still worth checking the wind, waves and bathing flags before swimming.

The Local Anchor

The key coastal anchor is the seafront around Fréjus-Plage and the Base Nature François Léotard — a large public recreation area beside the sea, with a long sandy beach, paths, sports space and room to move. It gives Fréjus a more open, active feel than the tighter Riviera resorts: good for walking, cycling, beach games, casual swimming and days when people want space rather than a tiny cove. After the beach, the old town has Roman remains, streets, markets and a cathedral quarter, while neighbouring Saint-Raphaël adds another harbour and evening promenade — a swim, a walk, lunch, sport and a town visit all fit in the same day.
