About Punta Prima
The atmosphere is relaxed, family friendly and focused on simple beach time. The shore is close to accommodation and places to eat, so visitors do not need to plan a complicated day. Punta Prima is busiest in high summer, while the edges of the season offer a quieter base for coastal walking and exploring southeast Menorca. The beach faces open water and can feel very different under easterly wind, so its character is shaped as much by daily sea conditions as by the compact resort behind it.
Today's Beach Report
Friday will be very cloudy all day. This morning, a moderate breeze will accompany the cloud cover, keeping temperatures lower than the day's peak of 31°C. By lunchtime, winds will decrease to become light, allowing for more comfortable outdoor activities. As the afternoon develops, skies will remain very cloudy with light winds continuing. Heading into this evening, details about the sky and wind are unavailable.
The beach offers calm, gentle surf with small, knee-high waves around 0.9 metres. Water temperatures are warm at 28.7°C, suitable for swimwear. Swimming and paddleboarding will be pleasant with the gentle conditions. Surfers can expect small waves, ideal for beginners and bodyboarders. Anyone taking a boat out should expect slightly rougher offshore conditions.
Runners and cyclists this morning will face a moderate breeze, which may require extra effort. The very high UV index today peaks at 8, so avoid direct sun between 12pm and 4pm. Full sun coverage is essential during these hours. In the afternoon, light winds will make conditions more favourable for outdoor sports like tennis. Cyclists may find the lighter winds more pleasant for longer rides.
Tomorrow will be overcast with a northeasterly wind picking up, stronger than today. Temperatures will be similar to today. The day after will be partly cloudy with lighter winds coming from the southwest.

The Setting
Punta Prima is a small beach resort on Menorca's southeast coast, within the municipality of Sant Lluis. Its pale sand and open view toward Illa de l'Aire give the beach a strong maritime identity, while low development keeps the waterfront easy to understand. The resort provides restaurants and holiday services, but the setting remains modest compared with the island's larger urban beaches. Its compact scale makes the beach easy to use while preserving an open island outlook.
Illa de l'Aire and its lighthouse form the defining local anchor, standing clearly offshore across the channel. The island gives the beach an immediate point of orientation and distinguishes Punta Prima from other sandy bays on Menorca's south coast. Inland, Sant Lluis provides the municipal and cultural centre, with a history strongly marked by eighteenth-century British rule. This connection between lighthouse, channel and inland town gives Punta Prima a sense of place beyond its role as a holiday beach.
White sand, low limestone edges and clear shallow-looking water create a bright, open scene. The seabed includes rock and areas of Posidonia, visible through the water in settled conditions. Unlike Menorca's deep southern ravines, this coast is comparatively low and exposed, with broad views and strong early light. Illa de l'Aire closes the horizon without enclosing the bay, while the lighthouse remains visible from most of the beach. Punta Prima's landscape is simple and uncluttered, defined by pale coast, blue channel and the offshore island.
