Playa Conserrado

The atmosphere is relaxed, quiet and nature-focused. Salinas attracts people looking for a calmer alternative to the island's busier road-access beaches, although the nearby camping area can bring more activity during the summer. The shore suits sunbathing, gentle walks and bathing when conditions are suitable.

The beach is protected from direct Atlantic swell, but the tide still shapes the experience. Lower water exposes a broader margin and nearby rock, while higher water reduces the dry sand. Visitors should remain aware of wind and changing depth, particularly when using small inflatables or paddle equipment.

Salinas is a sheltered fine-sand beach on the southern side of A Illa de Arousa, close to the Carreiron natural area. It extends for about 250 metres and sits within a quieter island landscape of low woodland, granite and tidal water.

Carreiron is the immediate anchor. This protected southern part of A Illa de Arousa contains pine woodland, lagoons, rocky points and a network of paths linking beaches and viewpoints. It is an important place for coastal habitats and birdlife.

The island's fishing identity remains visible beyond the natural setting. O Xufre and other ports support small boats and seafood activity, while mussel rafts occupy much of the surrounding ria. Salinas therefore sits between protected landscape and a productive maritime environment.

Salinas has fine sand and a sheltered classification. The beach forms a low curve beside vegetation, with granite edges helping to contain the shore.

The horizon is broken by small islands, distant mainland and aquaculture platforms. Water and sky dominate the view because the surrounding land is low and there are no high cliffs. The light can change quickly as Atlantic weather moves across the ria.

A walk beyond the main sand reveals the fragmented character of A Illa's southern coast: coves, rock shelves, pine shade and shallow tidal channels. Salinas is attractive not because it is grand, but because it belongs naturally within that varied island mosaic.
