About Playa de la Martinenca
It is a broad, triangular beach of fine golden sand where Mediterranean bathing, coastal vegetation and working infrastructure occupy the same landscape.
The beach offers more room than the small rocky inlets nearby and can suit couples, families and walkers. Its open shape means conditions vary with wind and sea state, and the shore should be approached on the evidence of flags and current water conditions. Shade is limited, while facilities may be seasonal rather than guaranteed throughout the year.

The Setting
Platja de la Martinenca is a semi-urban beach north of Les Cases d'Alcanar, also widely known as Platja del Ciment because of the industrial complex beside this part of the coast. That context should be understood clearly: this is not a hidden wilderness cove.
Martinenca belongs to the municipality of Alcanar and lies a short distance north of Les Cases d'Alcanar. The fishing village provides the nearest concentration of restaurants, shops and everyday services. Road access is linked to the N-340 coastal corridor, making the beach easier to reach by vehicle than many cliff-bound coves, although visitors should use designated access and parking areas.
The popular name Platja del Ciment reflects the presence of the cement works and its harbour. Rather than disguising that fact, the beach is best presented as part of a mixed-use coast where industry has long stood beside tourism, fishing and residential areas.
The beach is framed by a rocky section towards Maricel on one side and the main harbour structure of the industrial site on the other. Mediterranean scrub, holm oak and dwarf fan palm soften parts of the backing landscape, while the long sandy face opens directly towards the sea.
Its triangular form and unusual surroundings give Martinenca a character unlike the village beach at Les Cases. The view contains natural and human elements in equal measure: pale sand, low vegetation, rock, port engineering and the Montsia coast. Visitors looking for complete seclusion may prefer another beach, but those interested in a spacious local shoreline will find an honest and distinctive setting.
