About Playa de Les Cases d'Alcanar-marjal
The atmosphere is sociable in summer, with local families, holidaymakers and people moving between the beach, promenade and harbour area.
This section benefits from proximity to village services, but that convenience also brings greater activity during peak weeks. Early mornings are more peaceful, before the waterfront fills and the heat builds. Even on a generally gentle beach, visitors should follow flags, lifeguard instructions and any temporary notices after storms or heavy rain.

The Setting
The northern sector of Les Cases-Marjal lies closest to the waterfront of Les Cases d'Alcanar and offers an easygoing family beach beside a traditional fishing village. Fine sand mixed with small pebbles forms a comfortable, gently shelving shore, while the water is often calmer than at steeper, more exposed coves.
Les Cases d'Alcanar is a small maritime settlement four kilometres from the inland town of Alcanar. Fishing has shaped the village for generations, and the harbour remains an important visual and cultural anchor. Restaurants are known for seafood and rice dishes, making the beach easy to combine with a meal rooted in the local coast.
The northern end sits nearer this village setting and the port breakwater than the southern end of Marjal. Shops, cafes and the seafront are therefore more immediately present. The result is a beach day connected to an inhabited working place rather than an isolated strip of coast.
Les Cases-Marjal extends along a low, open shoreline where the dramatic cliffs of the northern Costa Brava are replaced by broad Mediterranean horizons. Sand and rounded pebbles reflect the influence of the Ebro coast, and the Montsia range rises inland as the major landform behind Alcanar.
At the northern end, harbour structures and the village define the view; looking south, the beach continues towards a quieter outer sector. This gradual transition is important. This is not a separate hidden cove but the village-facing part of a longer beach, combining calm water, practical access and the everyday identity of Les Cases d'Alcanar.
