About Playa de la Musclera

The Vibe

The beach attracts regular swimmers, local families and visitors looking for more space than the compact coves around Caldes. Its length, around 620 to 700 metres depending on the section counted, allows a quieter atmosphere away from the main access points. A designated naturist area occupies part of the western stretch, so different beach traditions coexist along the same shore.

The Mediterranean may look gentle, but the shore can develop a steep entry and short breaking waves. Wind, seasonal sand movement and storms can alter the available width, so visitors should judge conditions on arrival rather than relying on the beach's sheltered appearance.

The Setting

About

La Musclera is a long semiurban beach on the Maresme coast, extending between Punta del Canyadell and the boundary shared by Arenys de Mar and Caldes d'Estrac. Golden sand of fine to medium grain is mixed with occasional rocky sections, creating a shoreline that feels less formal than the central town beaches nearby.

The Local Anchor

Arenys de Mar provides the strongest maritime anchor, with its fishing port, market and old streets just east of the beach. The harbour is one of the major working ports on the Maresme coast, and seafood restaurants around town reflect that connection.

Caldes d'Estrac lies immediately west and adds a different identity through its thermal-water history, compact centre and seafront promenade. La Musclera sits between these two places, making it easy to combine a beach visit with either Arenys' harbour life or Caldes' quieter spa-town atmosphere.

The Landscape

The beach is backed closely by the coastal railway and the N-II road, a familiar pattern along the Maresme. Access is therefore concentrated through underpasses, after which the view opens suddenly from transport corridor to sand and sea.

Punta del Canyadell and low rocky areas add texture at the eastern end, while protected coastal vegetation survives in parts of the upper beach. The shore faces southeast across an open Mediterranean horizon, with no large bay enclosing it.

La Musclera's character comes from contrast: railway and towns behind, open water ahead, and a long strip of sand that feels surprisingly independent once visitors move away from the accesses.
