About Playa de Cabrera (vinyals)

The Vibe

This is a practical, open Mediterranean beach rather than a sheltered resort bay. Local families, commuters arriving by train and visitors from nearby towns share the shore. The broad sand offers room for walking and beach games.

The railway makes access unusually straightforward, but it is also part of the soundscape. Trains, road traffic and seasonal beach activity sit alongside waves and wind. That mixture gives Vinyals an honest, lived-in Maresme character.

Swimming conditions depend on the day. The coast faces directly into the Mediterranean, so wind and swell can produce stronger shore break than the calm appearance sometimes suggests. Visitors should follow flags and supervise children closely.

The Setting

About

Dels Vinyals is Cabrera de Mar's principal bathing beach, a wide stretch of coarse golden sand on the Maresme coast. It lies between El Moli and the Vilassar de Mar shoreline, with the Cabrera de Mar-Vilassar de Mar railway station directly opposite and the N-II running parallel behind the beach.

The Local Anchor

Cabrera de Mar rises inland through a cultivated valley towards Castell de Burriac. The ruined medieval castle crowns the hill and provides the municipality's clearest landmark, while Iberian and Roman remains reveal a much older history around the valley.

The village centre is set back from the beach, so the shore feels separate from its historic streets. A seaside stop can be combined with archaeology or hillside views. Vilassar de Mar lies immediately along the coast, adding harbour life and further services.

The Landscape

Vinyals is broad and relatively straight, with coarse sand shaped by storms and seasonal changes. The railway and road create a narrow developed corridor behind it, while fields, houses and the wooded slopes of the Serralada Litoral rise farther inland.

There is no enclosing bay. The horizon is open, the beach catches full morning sun and the mountain backdrop remains visible when looking away from the sea. Castell de Burriac often appears above the valley, giving the beach a distinctive inland reference.

Its beauty comes from proximity: Mediterranean water, transport corridor, cultivated land and ancient hilltop ruins all compressed into one narrow coastal strip.
