About Playa Poniente Almerimar
Poniente is sociable and energetic. Families, hotel guests and local residents share the sand, while walkers and cyclists use the promenade throughout the day. Activity is concentrated near the principal entrances, but the full length of the beach still allows quieter sections farther west.
The beach is designed for convenience, with seasonal services, adapted access and nearby sports areas. Mornings are popular for exercise and calmer bathing, afternoons bring the largest crowds, and evenings move naturally towards the marina and restaurants. It feels more like an established resort beach than the open shores around Guardias Viejas.

The Setting
Playa de Poniente lies west of Almerimar Marina and forms the resort's busiest and most fully equipped beach. Its long sandy frontage, broad promenade, family facilities and immediate access to restaurants and accommodation make it the practical centre of summer beach life in Almerimar.
Almerimar Marina sits at the eastern end and remains the main local landmark. Its docks support sailing, diving and leisure boating, while the surrounding streets contain many of the area's bars, shops and restaurants. The marina gives the beach a clear connection with the sea beyond ordinary bathing.
Poniente is also part of the route towards San Miguel and Punta Entinas-Sabinar. Local food reflects both sides of El Ejido: fish and shellfish from the coast, and vegetables from the vast greenhouse-growing district inland.
The shore runs in a broad curve west of the harbour, with sand backed by a long promenade, palms and low to medium-rise development. Harbour structures and masts define the eastern view, while the western horizon becomes progressively more open.
Beyond the resort, the coast leads towards dunes, salt marshes and wetlands within Punta Entinas-Sabinar. Inland, the terrain remains exceptionally flat before rising towards distant dry mountains. Poniente's landscape is developed and active, but its position between a major marina and protected natural coast gives the beach a clear beginning, direction and wider sense of place.
