About Playa de Fenals

The Vibe

The beach is lively but generally less intense than Lloret's main seafront. Families, couples, swimmers and water-sport users spread along the coarse sand, with enough length for the ends of the bay to feel quieter than the central access points.

Fenals is sheltered from some winds by the surrounding massif, but it is not permanently flat. The coarse sand and similar gradient to Lloret Beach mean the water can deepen relatively quickly. Visitors should follow flags, keep clear of marked kayak and paddle areas and remain alert when waves create a stronger shore break.

The Setting

About

Fenals is Lloret de Mar's second-largest beach, a broad 700-metre bay west of the town centre. A wooded headland separates it from Lloret Beach, giving Fenals a calmer residential setting while retaining full summer services and easy access from nearby hotels and apartments.

The Local Anchor

The Castle of Sant Joan stands on the headland between Fenals and central Lloret. Its surviving tower and paths provide elevated views over both beaches and explain the strategic importance of this coast during the medieval period.

At the western end, the Santa Clotilde Gardens occupy cliffs above the sea. Designed in the Italian Renaissance style, the gardens use terraces, sculpture and sea views to create one of Lloret's most distinctive cultural landscapes. Their entrance is inland, not directly from the sand.

The Landscape

Fenals forms a clear crescent held between rocky, pine-covered sides. The back of the beach is developed, but the bay shape and green headlands soften the view more effectively than on the main urban beach.

The sand is coarse and golden, and the water often shows strong colour contrasts where rock meets deeper blue. Coastal paths and viewpoints reveal the full shape of the bay, while the level beach itself is best for a long shoreline walk.

Fenals balances resort convenience with a stronger sense of enclosure. It is not a hidden cove, yet the separation from central Lloret is noticeable. Visitors can spend a practical family day on the sand, then reach medieval ruins, formal gardens and quieter rocky coast without leaving the western side of town.
