Playa de Lloret

This is Lloret at its most energetic. Families, groups of friends, swimmers and visitors from across Europe share a wide beach that remains active from morning until evening. Services are plentiful and the promenade makes it easy to move between the sand, town centre and waterfront restaurants.

The beach is large, but summer crowds can still be substantial. Coarse sand and a relatively steep underwater slope mean the sea becomes deeper more quickly than on shallow lagoon-style beaches. Waves can arrive with little shelter, so flags and lifeguard instructions are essential even when the weather looks settled.

The eastern and central part of Lloret Beach forms the busiest section of Lloret de Mar's main seafront. Coarse golden sand runs below the promenade, with the old town, restaurants and hotels immediately behind and the castle-like silhouette above Sa Caleta marking the eastern end.

Lloret's historic waterfront provides the immediate anchor. The Maritime Museum occupies Can Garriga, an Indiano house linked to the town's seafaring and emigrant history, while the old centre extends inland around the Church of Sant Roma.

At the eastern edge, Sa Caleta and the rocky path towards Cala dels Frares introduce a more rugged coast. The turreted Castell d'en Plaja above the cove is a private twentieth-century building rather than a medieval fortress, but it has become one of Lloret's most familiar landmarks.

Lloret Beach extends for more than one and a half kilometres in total. This eastern-central section looks across a broad open bay, with the promenade and town creating an urban backdrop while rocky headlands close the view at both ends.

The waterline and beach profile change after storms, and the open orientation leaves the shore exposed to Mediterranean swell. Early morning often shows the sand at its quietest, before activity builds along the central access points.

The landscape is deliberately public and urban, not secluded. Its interest comes from the contrast between a major resort beach and the harder Costa Brava rock visible at the edges. From the eastern side, visitors can experience busy Lloret life and begin a coastal walk within the same short stretch of shore.
