Playa Cala Canyelles

The cove has a relaxed holiday atmosphere, popular with families, boat users and visitors who want more separation from the town centre. The beach is large enough to absorb activity, though the central areas and spaces near the marina become busy in summer.

Canyelles suits swimming when flags allow, kayaking and paddle excursions along the rocky coast. The sand is coarse and the seabed can deepen relatively quickly, a common feature around Lloret. Wind and boat movement may also affect the water, so swimmers should stay clear of marked navigation areas.

Cala Canyelles is a broad cove on the eastern side of Lloret de Mar, reached by the road towards Tossa de Mar. Coarse golden sand, wooded slopes and a small marina distinguish it from Lloret's central urban beach while still providing seasonal services and straightforward road access.

Lloret de Mar remains the municipal anchor, but Cala Canyelles has its own small waterfront identity. The marina, seasonal restaurants and hillside homes create a self-contained beach district rather than an extension of the main promenade.

The coastal route towards Tossa reveals cliffs, pine woods and smaller coves, while the road back to Lloret leads to the town's historic centre, Maritime Museum and busier seafront. This position makes Canyelles useful for visitors who want access to Lloret without spending the whole day in its most urban setting.

The beach is about 450 metres long and held between substantial rocky headlands. Pine-covered slopes descend close to the shore, with houses scattered above and the marina occupying one side of the bay.

The cove offers more visual enclosure than Lloret Beach, yet it still faces changing Mediterranean weather. Rougher periods can push waves directly onto the coarse sand, while calmer mornings reveal clearer water around the rocks.

Canyelles is a characteristic Costa Brava compromise: not an untouched hidden cove, but a developed beach where cliffs, forest and open water remain stronger than the buildings. Its best moments come from looking along the bay rather than back at the access road, with boats near the harbour and the wooded headlands framing the sea.
