About Playa de la Mar Menuda
The beach is busy in summer, but its curved edges and rocky details create distinct pockets rather than one uninterrupted sweep of sand.
At the northern end, rocks enclose a shallow natural corner known as Sa Banyera de Ses Dones, traditionally valued as a protected place for children. That sheltered pocket should not be taken as a guide to the whole beach: the seabed becomes notably deeper a short distance offshore, and changing sea conditions still require attention to flags and lifeguard instructions.

The Setting
Mar Menuda occupies the northern end of Tossa de Mar's main bay and offers a smaller, more intimate alternative to Platja Gran. Its coarse sand, clear water and easy walk from the town centre make it popular with families, couples and divers.
Mar Menuda is connected to central Tossa by the seafront promenade. Restaurants, accommodation and everyday services are close, while Platja Gran and the entrances to Vila Vella are reached on foot around the bay. This makes the beach convenient for visitors who want a quieter base without losing contact with the town.
The beach also has a strong link with diving. Access to deeper water and rocky underwater terrain has made this part of Tossa well known among scuba centres and experienced snorkellers. Beginners should remain within their ability and avoid mixing with dive entry routes without understanding local arrangements.
The beach sits beneath wooded slopes at the point where Tossa's urban bay begins to narrow into a rockier coast. Looking south, the town and Vila Vella remain visible across the water; looking north, headlands and pine-covered cliffs draw the eye away from the built waterfront.
Rock formations at both ends give the shoreline texture and create habitat for marine life, especially in calm, clear weather. The contrast between a serviced town beach and an immediately rugged underwater edge is Mar Menuda's defining feature. It is accessible and sociable, yet the depth, rock and open Mediterranean beyond the bathing line give it a more adventurous character than its compact size suggests.
