The appeal is intimacy. Fontexelo offers only a small amount of sand, so the atmosphere changes quickly depending on tide and use. On a quiet day it can feel like a private pause beside the ria; when several groups arrive, the available space is soon shared.

This is a sensible choice for a short stop, a look at the water or a swim when conditions are suitable. Visitors wanting extensive space will find larger beaches elsewhere in Moana. Fontexelo rewards those who appreciate small places and the everyday shoreline of the estuary.

Fontexelo is a tiny beach in the Domaio area of Moana, close to the narrow inner section of the Ria de Vigo. Fine sand fills a short opening in a developed shoreline.

Domaio is the immediate anchor. The parish occupies the eastern end of Moana, where the Ria de Vigo narrows towards the Rande Bridge. Fishing, boatbuilding, small harbours and residential lanes all shape this waterfront.

The bridge is an important visual and geographic marker. It links the Morrazo peninsula with the Vigo side of the ria and dominates many views from Domaio. Nearby port areas provide a stronger sense of village activity than the beach itself.

Fontexelo is about 45 metres long, with fine sand and an open classification despite its position well inside the ria. Rock and built edges contain the strand, and the back of the beach is closely connected to the surrounding settlement.

The tide has an outsized effect here. At lower water, the beach gains useful width and the intertidal margin becomes visible; at higher water, the sand can feel very limited. The inner-ria setting often produces a calmer visual surface than the ocean coast, but wind, currents and passing vessels still matter.

The wider landscape is more industrial and lived-in than scenic in the conventional resort sense. The Rande crossing, wooded hills, harbour structures and houses create a layered estuary panorama. That working context is central to Fontexelo's identity and should be appreciated rather than edited out of the visit.
