About Playa Des Riu
The beach feels relaxed and local. Families, walkers and residents from the Siesta side use the sand, while visitors follow the promenade towards the town centre. It is close to restaurants and accommodation without carrying the same concentrated activity as the central seafront. The quieter southern end is particularly pleasant for an early walk before the promenade becomes busier.
The river mouth makes local conditions important. After heavy rain, runoff can affect water colour and quality, so temporary signs or restrictions should always be respected. Swimmers should follow flags, remain clear of any marked drainage or craft areas and avoid assuming that sheltered-looking water is automatically suitable.

The Setting
Platja des Riu de Santa Eularia lies beside the mouth of Ibiza's only true river, immediately south of Santa Eularia town. Its sandy shore, quieter promenade and riverside setting give it a softer, more natural edge than the municipality's main urban beach.
The Riu de Santa Eularia is the defining feature and the reason the town developed around this part of the coast. A walking route follows the river inland towards the old bridge, known as Pont Vell, and the Puig de Missa hill.
Puig de Missa carries the fortified white church of Santa Eularia, visible from several approaches and central to the town's historic identity. The riverside route links beach, watercourse and hilltop settlement in a way that the marina-oriented main beach does not.
The shore forms a modest sandy curve between the river outlet and low urban development. Reeds, river vegetation and the wooded Siesta hillside add green elements behind the beach, while the sea remains open towards the east.
This is not a dramatic rocky cove. Its interest comes from the meeting of fresh-water landscape and Mediterranean shore, with bridges, paths and the Puig de Missa creating layers beyond the sand. Platja des Riu works particularly well as part of a walk: swim when conditions allow, follow the river inland, then continue towards the old town or central promenade.
