About Playa Espineiro - Sanxenxo
The atmosphere is open, breezy and less urban than the beaches around Sanxenxo town. Visitors come for time on the sand, coastal walks and the space created by low dunes and a long horizon.
Espineira can feel calm in settled weather, but it remains an open beach where wind and swell matter. Swimming should follow the conditions rather than appearances from shore. Outside busy hours, the sea and moving dune grass become more noticeable.

The Setting
Espineira is a 150-metre open beach at the northern end of the A Lanzada shoreline in Noalla. Fine sand and a direct Atlantic outlook connect it to the same broad coastal system as A Lapa and Areas Gordas, although its shorter length gives it a more clearly defined identity.
A Lanzada is the defining local anchor. The famous coastal strip links Sanxenxo with the O Grove peninsula and brings together a long beach, dune habitats, open sea and a sequence of smaller named sections.
Noalla lies inland, while the chapel of Nosa Senora da Lanzada and the archaeological headland are a short distance south. Farther north, the road continues towards O Grove and the shellfish landscapes of the Ria de Arousa. Espineira therefore sits at a natural transition between the Sanxenxo resort coast and the peninsula beyond.
The beach has fine sand and faces west across open Atlantic water. Low dunes and coastal vegetation shape the back of the shore, creating a flatter and more natural horizon than at the municipality's urban beaches.
The tide changes the width of the strand, but the surrounding A Lanzada system preserves a strong sense of continuity along the coast. At low water, walking becomes easier and the beach feels connected to the longer sandy sections nearby. Higher water emphasises the smaller scale of Espineira itself.
Wind can move freely across this exposed landscape, cooling the beach even on bright days and roughening the sea. Views extend towards Ons and the mouth of the ria. The essential character is one of openness: fine sand, dune vegetation and a horizon governed more by weather than by buildings.
