Playa de la Punta de la Tordera-de la Conca

The beach feels open, windswept and quieter than Malgrat Centre. Walkers, nature-minded visitors and people staying at nearby campsites use the broad shore, while the absence of a continuous urban frontage creates a stronger sense of space.

This is an exposed coast, and the river mouth adds another layer of risk. Currents, shifting channels and water quality can change after rain, so swimming close to the Tordera outlet is unwise. The open sea can also produce strong shore break. Visitors should use supervised areas where provided and keep dogs, children and belongings clear of sensitive dunes.

The beach is best appreciated as a landscape, not only a bathing place. Morning and late afternoon bring softer light and better chances of seeing birds around the river corridor.

Punta de la Tordera-de la Conca is Malgrat de Mar's most natural beach, extending beside the mouth of the River Tordera at the northern end of the municipality. Coarse golden sand, dunes and river vegetation replace the dense promenade setting found closer to the town centre.

The Tordera delta is the defining anchor. The river descends from the Montseny area and reaches the Mediterranean between Malgrat de Mar and Blanes, creating a dynamic meeting of fresh water, sand and sea.

Malgrat's old centre lies southwest, with the church of Sant Nicolau, Parc del Castell and streets leading back towards the resort frontage. The contrast is striking: a busy holiday town only a short distance from an open river-mouth environment.

The shore is broad and relatively undeveloped, with coarse sand, low dunes and patches of coastal vegetation. The Tordera outlet shifts with floods and storms, so sandbars and channels do not remain fixed from season to season.

Across the river, Blanes and the beginning of the Costa Brava are visible, while southward the beach leads towards Malgrat's hotel and promenade districts. Wind often travels freely across the flat delta.

This landscape is fragile. Visitors should stay on established approaches, avoid entering fenced habitat and leave river debris where it supports natural processes. Punta de la Tordera offers Malgrat's clearest view of a living Mediterranean delta, beautiful precisely because it continues to change.
