About Playa del Saladar
The atmosphere changes along the shore. Near Urbanova, the promenade and apartment frontage create a practical family beach with easy access to food and everyday services. Farther from the main entrances, the strand feels quieter and more open, particularly where dunes and undeveloped ground soften the urban edge.
There is ample room for walking, beach games and relaxed sunbathing, although popular summer days can still concentrate visitors near the principal access points. The coast is open to wind and swell, so swimming should follow flags and local advice. The long waterline can look uniform even when conditions vary from one section to another. Outside the hottest hours, the beach also suits long shoreline walks.

The Setting
Playa del Saladar, widely known as Saladares-Urbanova, is Alicante's long southern beach beside the residential district of Urbanova. Fine sand, a surviving dune line and a broad horizon give it a more spacious character than the beaches close to the city centre.
Urbanova is the immediate anchor, a planned coastal neighbourhood south of Alicante with a long seafront promenade. The city centre lies several kilometres to the northeast, while the neighbouring shore towards El Altet belongs to the municipality of Elche.
North of Saladar is Agua Amarga, Alicante's seasonal dog-friendly beach area. The two should not be treated as the same beach, and visitors with dogs need to use the specifically designated section and follow the current local rules rather than assuming access across Saladar.
The beach is a long band of fine golden sand backed in places by low dunes and salt-tolerant vegetation. These natural sections are important visual and ecological breaks in an otherwise developed coastal corridor, so boardwalks and recognised paths should be used.
There are no cliffs or enclosing coves. The scale is horizontal: sand, low buildings, dune ridges and open sea stretching towards the airport side of the Alicante plain. Its appeal lies in space and continuity, with enough distance from central Alicante to feel calmer without becoming remote.
