Playa de Cala Blanca

The cove suits visitors who value simplicity and do not expect the facilities of Carregador or La Romana. Space is limited, the shore is mixed underfoot and the atmosphere depends on the small number of people who make the approach. Quiet mornings can feel especially removed from the busier centre of Alcossebre.

Swimming and snorkelling should be approached cautiously because rock, pebbles and changing waves can make entry less predictable than on a wide sandy beach. There may be no lifeguard presence or immediate services, so visitors need water, suitable footwear and a willingness to turn back if conditions are unsuitable.

Cala Blanca is a small natural cove north of Les Fonts on the Alcossebre coast, formed from fine sand, pebbles and pale rocky ground. Its undeveloped setting and less straightforward access give it a quieter, wilder character than the serviced urban beaches around the marina.

Les Fonts is the nearest developed coastal area, with its freshwater springs, marina, restaurants and low waterfront streets. Cala Blanca lies beyond that urban cluster, marking the transition towards the more rugged coves and protected landscape associated with the northern Alcossebre coast.

Farther inland and north rises the Serra d'Irta, while Alcala de Xivert provides the municipality's historic centre. The castle and high ground belong to the wider landscape rather than the cove itself, but they explain why this coastline shifts rapidly from resort beaches to rocky, sparsely developed shore.

Fine sand and rounded pebbles occupy a narrow opening in pale coastal rock. Mediterranean scrub covers the low ground behind, and the absence of a promenade allows the cove to retain a direct relationship with its natural surroundings.

The view is intimate rather than expansive, with rocky edges framing the water and limiting space on land. Cala Blanca's value lies in contrast: close to the marina and Les Fonts, yet visibly less engineered and serviced. It offers a small pocket of shoreline where the sound of water against stone matters more than organised beach activity.
