About Playa del Moro

The Vibe

The beach feels relaxed and self-contained. Families and couples can settle within a short walk of local streets and services, yet the rocky ends make the sand seem separated from the surrounding development. Summer occupation is noticeable, although the mood remains more cove-like than at Carregador.

The outcrops provide visual shelter but do not remove the need to check flags and wave conditions. Rocks near the sides require careful entry, particularly for children or anyone snorkelling. When the sea is settled, the compact bay works well for an easy swim and time close to the water.

The Setting

About

Playa del Moro is a compact golden-sand beach south of La Romana, enclosed between two low rocky outcrops on the Alcossebre coast. Its smaller scale, Roca del Moro offshore and semi-urban setting give it a more intimate appearance than the broad beaches immediately to the north.

The Local Anchor

Roca del Moro is the immediate landmark, rising from the water a short distance offshore and giving the beach its name and strongest visual reference. Local stories have gathered around the rock, but its practical importance is simply that it makes this small beach instantly recognisable.

Alcossebre's main centre lies north beyond La Romana and Carregador, while Tres Playas continues the chain of small coves to the south. The marina at Les Fonts is farther away, and Alcala de Xivert's castle belongs to the inland panorama rather than the beach itself.

The Landscape

Fine golden sand fills a bay about 300 metres long, with rock framing both ends and low development behind. The enclosure softens the view and gives the shoreline a more sheltered appearance, while the open Mediterranean remains visible beyond the offshore rock.

The transition south is particularly distinctive as one urban beach becomes a series of shorter coves. Playa del Moro sits at that turning point, combining easy access and seasonal facilities with the proportions of a natural inlet. Its identity depends less on size than on composition: sand, two rocky arms and one solitary rock in the sea.
