About Playa de Els Pinets

The Vibe

Pinets feels quiet because there is very little room for large groups or organised beach activity. Visitors come for snorkelling, photography and the sense of finding a small natural recess between better-known beaches. Beach shoes are valuable on the stones and rock platforms, and everything needed for the visit should be carried in.

The cove has no broad sandy area, so comfort depends on accepting a rougher shoreline. Water conditions must be checked before entering, especially around slippery rock or after swell. When the sea is settled, the mix of sand, stone and Posidonia below the surface creates varied underwater scenery.

The Setting

About

Cala dels Pinets is a tiny cove on the Benissa coast, made up of pebbles, flat rock and a narrow opening of clear Mediterranean water. Its small size and connection with the Ecological Walk make it better suited to a short swim or coastal exploration than to a conventional all-day beach setup.

The Local Anchor

A short coastal excursion leads from Pinets towards Mar Morta and Les Roques Negres. Mar Morta is a low tongue of water protected by rock, while the dark and ochre formations nearby add geological interest to the route.

The Benissa Ecological Walk connects the cove with La Fustera and other parts of the municipality's coastline. This path is the practical local anchor because Pinets has few facilities of its own. Visitors should keep to recognised routes, protect coastal vegetation and avoid removing stones or marine life.

The Landscape

The official cove is only around twenty metres long and about ten metres wide. Rock shelves enclose the water, pines and scrub occupy the slopes, and nearby formations create a sequence of small pools, ledges and inlets rather than a single open beach.

Posidonia leaves may collect along the edge, especially after rougher conditions. They are part of the natural marine cycle, not litter, and help reveal the health of the surrounding seabed. Pinets is memorable for detail rather than scale: textured rock, transparent shallows, compact vegetation and the close relationship between footpath and sea.
