About Playa las Marinicas

The Vibe

Las Marinicas feels open and relaxed, with enough room for family groups, casual games and long stretches beside the water. Its position near the port makes it active without giving it the dense town-centre feel of Los Barquicos. Summer use is high, yet the beach's length spreads visitors across a generous area. Calm periods suit straightforward bathing, while the exposed Almeria coast can still produce wind or a more textured sea. The atmosphere is practical and welcoming: this is a beach chosen for space, access and dependable amenities rather than for seclusion.

The Setting

About Playa de Las Marinicas

Playa de Las Marinicas is a substantial urban beach on the southern side of Carboneras, beside the marina and fishing-port area. Around 1.45 kilometres long, it has fine dark sand, a broad family-friendly frontage and the services expected at one of the town's principal bathing beaches.

The Local Anchor

The marina and fishing port form the immediate local focus. Working boats, harbour walls and seafood restaurants connect the beach to Carboneras's maritime economy, while the town centre is close enough to reach on foot or by a short drive. The promenade and adapted facilities make this one of the easier Carboneras beaches for a mixed-age group. Beyond the harbour, the coast leads towards the protected landscapes of Cabo de Gata-Nijar, so Las Marinicas also serves as a transition between the built town and the more rugged shore to the south.

The Landscape

The beach curves along a wide bay framed by the port at one end and dry hills at the other. Dark fine sand forms a smooth foreground, while harbour structures and moored craft add strong geometric lines to the seaward view. The arid slopes behind Carboneras remain visible and reinforce the contrast between clear Mediterranean water and the almost desert-like land. From open parts of the shore, the horizon feels broad and uncluttered despite the nearby marina. Las Marinicas is therefore neither a wild cove nor a purely urban strip; it is a large coastal space shaped equally by beach, harbour and the stark terrain of eastern Almeria.
