About Playa Son Saura

The Vibe

The mood is relaxed and holiday-oriented. Families spread across the broad sand, children paddle near the centre and visitors move easily between the beach, nearby accommodation and places to eat. The shore can become busy in high season, yet its width prevents the compressed feeling found in many small coves. Quieter space often remains towards the ends.

The bay often appears gentle, but its north-facing position leaves it open to changing wind. Inflatable toys can travel surprisingly fast when an offshore breeze develops, while onshore weather produces short waves across the shallows. The sandy centre is easier underfoot than the rocky edges, where snorkellers need to account for surge around submerged stone.

The Setting

About

Arenal de s'Olla de Son Saura, commonly called Son Parc or Son Saura del Nord, is a wide sandy beach within the Son Parc resort area of Es Mercadal. Its shallow-looking bay, dune backing and practical services make it a dependable family choice on Menorca's north coast.

The Local Anchor

Son Parc is the local anchor, a purpose-built holiday area with accommodation, restaurants and Menorca's only golf course nearby. That resort context makes the beach convenient, although the sand and dune system remain the visual focus at sea level.

A wetland area and seasonal watercourse lie behind parts of the shore, supporting vegetation distinct from the dry plateau. The Cami de Cavalls reaches the wider coast and provides a route towards quieter northern landscapes beyond the resort streets.

The Landscape

The beach forms a long pale arc between low rocky points. Dunes and scrub separate much of the sand from development, softening the built edge and creating a more natural first impression than the resort map might suggest.

The open bay receives bright northern light and broad views across the Mediterranean. Son Parc should not be confused with the separate Son Saura beaches south of Ciutadella. This is the northern Arenal de s'Olla: accessible, spacious and shaped by the balance between resort convenience and a still-visible dune landscape.
