Playa Boliches-Gaviotas

The beach is lively, sociable and exceptionally well used. Families, regular swimmers and visitors from nearby accommodation share a shore extending for roughly three kilometres, while walkers and cyclists use the promenade throughout the day. Its length allows activity to spread beyond the busiest central entrances.

Mediterranean conditions are often moderate, although wind can bring short waves. Seasonal rescue services, accessible bathing facilities, play areas and water activities make the beach practical for mixed-age groups. Evenings remain active as people move towards restaurants and the seafront after the strongest sun.

Playa Los Boliches-Gaviotas forms Fuengirola's long northeastern urban beachfront between Torreblanca and the central town. Its fine toasted sand, extensive promenade and deep connection with the former fishing village of Los Boliches make it one of the municipality's most recognisable family beaches.

Los Boliches began as a fishing settlement and retains a distinct identity within modern Fuengirola. The church and celebrations of the Virgen del Carmen remain central to local life, with the maritime procession providing one of the year's most important community events.

Restaurants and chiringuitos maintain the fishing connection through sardine espetos, fried fish and seafood. The Roman archaeological site at Finca del Secretario lies inland, adding evidence of much earlier settlement and fish-processing activity in the area.

Fine golden-brown sand follows a long, nearly continuous urban curve beneath a broad promenade. Palms, apartments, hotels and restaurants form the backdrop, but the exceptional length prevents any single building group from dominating the shoreline.

Torreblanca and Carvajal lie northeast, while central Fuengirola and the port approach southwest. Breakwaters and beach facilities introduce local divisions, yet the sand remains visually continuous. Los Boliches-Gaviotas is defined by scale and community: a fully serviced modern beach whose strongest cultural anchor remains the fishing village absorbed into the growing town. Traditional fishing boats and maritime decorations still appear around parts of Los Boliches, preserving visible reminders of the neighbourhood that existed before Fuengirola expanded along the seafront.
