About Playa Cala Vienesos-Platja Dels Espenyals
Cala dels Vienesos is a compact, curved cove, while the Espenyals section continues through smaller sandy pockets beneath the coastal edge. The atmosphere is quieter and more enclosed than Platja Cristall, attracting swimmers, couples and families who are comfortable with a less uniform shore. Space is limited in the smallest sections, so arriving outside peak hours gives the landscape more room to be appreciated.

The Setting
Cala Vienesos-Platja dels Espenyals combines Cala dels Vienesos with the adjoining Platja dels Espenyals, also commonly written as Platja dels Penyals. Together they represent the more intimate, cliff-shaped side of Miami Platja rather than its long open sands.
The cliffs known as the Penyals are the defining local feature. They form part of the broken coastal line that gives Miami Platja its sequence of viewpoints, coves and rocky inlets. Paths and streets above the shore reveal changing perspectives over the Mediterranean, while the nearby urban area provides food, accommodation and practical services without completely surrounding every bay. The combined official name matters because this is not a single simple crescent: it is a connected coastal sector with different beach forms sharing one monitored stretch of water.
Cala dels Vienesos contains fine golden sand, rock and clear water within a distinctive curved inlet. Its entry can become steep quite quickly, so it should not be treated like a broad shallow family beach. North of it, Platja dels Espenyals extends along a cliff-backed shore broken into sandy sections and rocky margins. Vegetation above the slopes adds colour, but shade on the sand is limited and access may involve steps or sloping paths depending on the chosen entrance. Rocky edges can be rewarding for careful snorkelling in calm conditions, although footwear and awareness of sea state are sensible. Wind from the east can send waves directly into these openings. The appeal lies in variety: compact sand, ochre rock, blue water and elevated viewpoints compressed into a short section of Miami Platja's most characteristic coastline.
