About Playa de Montsolns
Monsolis has an informal neighbourhood character. Residents come for a walk, a swim when conditions permit or a short break by the sea rather than for a complete resort experience. The amount of usable sand can vary greatly, and after rough weather the beach may feel much narrower than expected.
Visitors should judge the shore as they find it. Waves can reach close to the upper edge, submerged structures or stones may be present and some sections may not offer much room for towels. When the sea is settled and sand has accumulated, the beach provides a simple, convenient escape close to Barcelona.

The Setting
Platja de Monsolis is one of Montgat's narrow urban beaches, lying along a coastline where the railway, promenade and residential streets run very close to the Mediterranean. It is a local bathing place shaped as much by coastal erosion and infrastructure as by traditional beach life.
Montgat's identity is closely tied to the first coastal railway from Barcelona to Mataro and to its earlier fishing community. The line still runs beside the shore, making trains a constant visual and audible part of the beach.
The town rises inland towards Tiana and the low hills of the Maresme. Local streets, small restaurants and the historic centre are close, while Barcelona remains only a short rail journey away.
Monsolis belongs to a highly constrained stretch of coast. Sea, rail line and urban development occupy a narrow corridor, leaving limited space for dunes or a broad natural backshore. Breakwaters and coastal defences influence how sand moves along the frontage.
Storm erosion is an important feature of the landscape, not a temporary inconvenience. The width and profile of the beach can change from season to season, and visitors should avoid relying on old photographs when planning where to settle.
The setting is nevertheless distinctly Mediterranean. Open water, bright light and views along the Maresme coast remain strong, while the closeness of town and railway gives Monsolis an unmistakably metropolitan character.
