About Playa Playa Granada

The Vibe

Playa Granada feels organised, relaxed and more polished than the working coast around Azucenas. Families, hotel guests, golfers and walkers share the long beachfront, while restaurants and seasonal facilities remain close without forming a dense urban wall. The broad sand allows visitors to move away from the main hotel entrances.

The waterline is open to Mediterranean wind and changing wave conditions. Dark sand and gravel produce a firmer surface than pale fine-sand resorts, but the scale of the beach supports long walks and informal sport. Mornings are calmest in atmosphere, while evenings draw people towards the restaurants and the wide coastal view.

The Setting

About Playa Granada

Playa Granada lies west of Motril's main port beaches, beside the Los Moriscos golf course and close to the mouth of the Rio Guadalfeo. Its broad dark shore, low-rise holiday development and views towards the mountains create a spacious resort setting with natural and agricultural landscapes still nearby.

The Local Anchor

Los Moriscos Club de Golf occupies the flat land immediately behind part of the beach. Fairways and palms create a green contrast with the dark sand and the dry mountain ranges beyond. Nearby accommodation and restaurants have developed around this golf and beach setting.

The Rio Guadalfeo reaches the sea close to the eastern side of the wider area. Its valley carries water from the mountains and supports the fertile plain where sugar cane was historically important and subtropical fruit now grows. Motril provides the main urban and maritime centre.

The Landscape

A long curve of dark sand and gravel faces the Mediterranean beneath a broad southern horizon. Golf fairways, low hotels, apartments and cultivated land form a varied inland edge rather than a single continuous promenade.

The Sierra de Lujar and, on exceptionally clear days, higher mountains inland create a dramatic backdrop. Eastward, the beach approaches the river mouth and Motril's port zone; westward, it continues towards Salobrena. Playa Granada's appeal comes from scale and contrast: resort comfort set between sea, golf, fertile plain and mountain country.
