About Playa Canyelles Petites
The beach feels relaxed and family-friendly, although its modest size means summer crowds build quickly. Swimmers and snorkellers use the bay in settled weather, while restaurants and accommodation around the shore make it easy to stay for several hours without returning to town.
The water often appears sheltered, but the cove remains open to easterly weather. Waves can reach far up the beach during rough conditions, and boat channels must be kept clear. Early morning offers the calmest atmosphere and the best chance of finding generous space near the centre.

The Setting
Canyelles Petites is a compact sandy bay east of Roses, set between the town and L'Almadrava. Fine golden sand, clear-looking water and houses climbing the surrounding slopes create a classic Costa Brava cove with easy road access and useful services.
Roses is the main anchor, with its fishing port, promenade and Ciutadella a short journey west. The beach occupies the transition between the developed bay and the rugged Cap de Creus coast.
A coastal path links Canyelles Petites with neighbouring sections, offering elevated views over the water and the residential hillsides. L'Almadrava lies farther east and provides a broader alternative when this smaller beach is busy.
The bay forms a rounded curve between low rocky points. Houses and apartments rise steeply behind, mixed with pine and Mediterranean vegetation. The slope gives many viewpoints across the beach but also means access routes can involve gradients and steps.
Rock around both ends continues beneath the water, adding interest for snorkelling while requiring care around slippery surfaces. Boats often anchor offshore in summer, reinforcing the cove's holiday atmosphere.
Canyelles Petites faces south and receives strong sun through much of the day. The hills offer limited natural shade only near the edges. Its appeal comes from the balance between a visually enclosed bay and convenient access: visitors gain the feel of a Costa Brava cove without travelling far from the services and waterfront life of Roses.
