About Playa del Rastrell-Nova

The Vibe

This is a lively, urban family beach with constant movement along both sand and promenade. Children play near the water, swimmers use the buoyed area and walkers follow the seafront between the old town and the modern hotel district. The beach is broad enough for games and organised activities without feeling confined.

Convenience is the main attraction. Shops, cafes and town services are close, while the long shoreline allows visitors to choose a busier or quieter section. Afternoon sea breeze can raise short waves across the bay, and all users should observe flags and marked channels for boats or water sports.

The Setting

About

Rastrell-Nova covers a long central section of Roses' seafront, linking the town beach with the broad promenade stretching towards Salatar. Fine sand, shallow-looking water and immediate access to restaurants and accommodation make it one of the resort's most practical bathing areas.

The Local Anchor

The centre of Roses lies immediately west, with its fishing port, compact streets and seafood restaurants. The Ciutadella is the major historical reference, preserving remains from Greek and Roman settlement through medieval and modern periods.

The promenade itself is an important local feature. It ties together Nova, Rastrell, Salatar and Santa Margarida, allowing a long level walk with uninterrupted views across the Bay of Roses.

The Landscape

Rastrell-Nova forms part of a continuous sandy arc rather than a separate enclosed cove. The beach faces southwest across a wide bay, with the Pyrenees and the low Emporda landscape appearing in the distance on clear days.

The waterline is usually broad and gently curved, although storms can alter the sand profile and deposit marine material along the upper shore. There are no cliffs or large natural barriers, so wind and weather remain visible across the whole horizon.

Buildings and the promenade create a clearly urban backdrop, yet the scale of the bay prevents the view from feeling enclosed. Evening is especially attractive, when the sun lowers behind the western side of the gulf and the beach becomes a route for walkers rather than only a daytime bathing place.
