Playa el Mojon

The Vibe

This El Mojón is the Alicante side of a shoreline shared with neighbouring Murcia. It is a narrow urban beach of golden sand, edged by a small promenade with a white balustrade and facing directly onto the Mediterranean.

The atmosphere is simple and local rather than resort-like. The beach changes in width through the year, and occasional seaweed forms part of the natural shoreline. Anglers are a familiar presence, while the promenade gives residents an easy route along the water without separating the beach from the settlement behind it.

The Local Anchor

El Mojón marks the southern limit of Pilar de la Horadada and of the province of Alicante. Just beyond the boundary begins San Pedro del Pinatar in Murcia, where another bathing-water zone carries the same name. The two beaches are continuous in appearance but administratively distinct.

This border position is the strongest local anchor. Northward, Pilar de la Horadada’s coast continues towards Las Higuericas and Torre de la Horadada; southward, paths and shoreline lead towards the salt pans and dunes of San Pedro’s regional park.

The Landscape

Official Comunitat Valenciana tourism information describes a beach about 270 metres long, with an average width near five metres, although that width varies seasonally. It is an urban, open beach with golden sand and straightforward access on foot or by car.

The beach has a nearby urban bus stop and basic services such as showers, foot washes, bins and walkways, but no dedicated beach parking or toilets immediately beside the sand. The distinction is geographical, municipal and regional, even where the coast itself appears continuous.
