About Playa el Mojon-Derecha

The Vibe

El Mojon feels relaxed, family-friendly and less densely developed than the major Costa Calida resorts. Residents and summer visitors use the serviced frontage, walkers continue towards the protected dunes and anglers choose quieter positions near the outer sections. The beach retains a local rhythm outside peak season.

The open Mediterranean shore receives direct wind and waves, unlike the Mar Menor beaches only a short distance inland. Seasonal rescue services and accessible facilities support the main bathing area. Visitors should follow flags, respect marked zones and avoid entering when the sea becomes rough.

The Setting

About Playa El Mojon

Playa El Mojon lies at the northern Mediterranean edge of San Pedro del Pinatar, where a modest seaside settlement meets the protected Salinas y Arenales landscape. Its fine grey sand, open water and low promenade create a straightforward beach with both urban access and natural surroundings.

The Local Anchor

The El Mojon settlement sits beside the provincial boundary with Alicante and provides cafes, homes and everyday access. Southward, the San Pedro marina and regional park begin to shape the coastline.

The Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar protect salt pans, dunes and bird habitat behind the Mediterranean shore. This creates an unusual transition from village streets to one of Murcia's most important coastal wetlands.

The Landscape

Fine grey-golden sand extends beneath a broad eastern horizon, backed by a low promenade, houses, dunes and salt-flat scenery. Development becomes less continuous towards the protected park.

Northward, the coast reaches Pilar de la Horadada in Alicante. Southward, Torre Derribada and the port area lead into the regional park. El Mojon is defined by edge and contrast: serviced village beach, open Mediterranean waves and protected wetland landscape meeting at Murcia's northeastern corner. The beach is also part of a longer coastal walk towards protected dunes and observation areas. Evening light is more limited than on the lagoon side, but sunrise and early morning give the open shore its strongest colours. The nearby wetland paths add interest beyond ordinary bathing.
