Playa la Llana-las Salinas

La Llana feels spacious, elemental and deliberately separate from urban resort life. Walkers, swimmers and nature visitors use the recognised entrances, while the long shore provides quiet sections beyond the busiest access. The beach remains fully exposed to sun, wind and open-sea conditions.

Mediterranean waves can become active, especially with easterly weather. Seasonal supervision and marked bathing areas operate around selected sections, but services are limited across the full length. Visitors should use boardwalks, protect dune vegetation and carry sufficient water and shade.

Playa La Llana-Las Salinas forms a long natural Mediterranean shoreline within the Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar regional park. Its fine grey sand, dunes and salt-pan backdrop create one of Murcia's most important protected beach landscapes.

The working salt pans and protected regional park are the defining features. Lagoons, dunes and saline habitat support flamingos, waders and many migrating birds, while salt production continues beside the visitor landscape.

La Llana includes the Las Salinas section and continues through natural stretches towards Barraca Quemada and Punta de Algas. The port of San Pedro stands near the northern end, while the Mar Menor lies beyond the salt-flat system.

Fine grey-golden sand extends for several kilometres beneath a broad Mediterranean sky. Low dunes, boardwalks and salt pans occupy the rear landscape, with almost no continuous building frontage.

The flat terrain creates long views across water, sand and saline lagoons. Port structures remain visible near one end, but the centre of the beach feels remote. La Llana-Las Salinas is defined by protected scale: open sea, working salt landscape and dune habitat connected along San Pedro's wild southern Mediterranean shore. Birdwatching is best kept quiet and unobtrusive, particularly near the saline lagoons and dune edges. The flat park routes also allow a beach visit to be combined with a longer walk through one of Murcia's most unusual coastal landscapes. Natural shade is almost entirely absent along the main shore.
