Playa Calas de Cabo Huertas

The cape attracts swimmers, snorkellers, walkers and visitors seeking a quieter alternative to Alicante's main urban sands. Some sections have a long-standing naturist tradition, so the atmosphere is tolerant and mixed. Space is limited on rock platforms and tiny patches of shore, making consideration for other users especially important.

Entry can be awkward because the seabed is rocky and depth changes around ledges. Water shoes, careful footing and calm conditions are more important here than at a broad sandy beach. The sea may look transparent while swell makes exits difficult, so users should avoid exposed points when waves are running.

The Calas de Cabo de la Huerta form a rocky bathing sector on Alicante's eastern headland between Almadraba and Playa de San Juan. Cala de la Palmera, Cala Cantalares and Cala de los Judios provide small, irregular access points rather than one continuous sandy beach.

The Cabo de la Huerta lighthouse stands near the tip of the headland and remains an active navigation landmark. The coastal route passes residential streets, low cliffs and viewpoints across Alicante Bay, linking the coves with Almadraba to the south and San Juan to the north.

Alicante's city centre is visible in the wider panorama but does not define the immediate experience. The cape has its own identity as a rocky break in the urban coastline, and recent management has included protected swimming and diving arrangements intended to separate bathers from boat traffic.

Layered pale rock descends into clear-looking Mediterranean water, creating shelves, channels and submerged formations. Vegetation is low and adapted to salt, wind and dry ground, while houses sit back from parts of the cliff edge.

There is little conventional beach sand. The attraction comes from geology and underwater visibility, but those same features demand caution. The combined bathing sector should not be reduced to Cala de los Judios alone; it covers a sequence of named coves along the cape, each with slightly different access and exposure.
