About Playa de l'Almadrava
The mood is relaxed and neighbourhood-based. Families and local residents come for paddling, short swims and late-afternoon time beside the water, while the western outlook makes the beach especially attractive as the light softens. It is more intimate than a resort beach, and space can feel limited when many people arrive together.
The bay is often calmer than nearby open stretches, but swimmers should still check flags and avoid assuming shelter removes every risk. Small craft and harbour activity may be present around the wider coastline. The beach is suited to an easy visit rather than a search for wilderness, with urban roads and homes always close behind.

The Setting
Playa de l'Almadrava is a small sheltered beach on Alicante's northeastern waterfront, between the Albufereta area and Cabo de la Huerta. Its fine sand, modest scale and protected-looking water create a quieter alternative to Postiguet or the long beach of San Juan.
The beach sits between two distinct Alicante coastal districts. To the west are Albufereta and the archaeological landscape around Tossal de Manises, the site of Roman Lucentum. To the east, Cabo de la Huerta projects into the sea with rocky coves and the lighthouse area.
A small marina and coastal routes help connect Almadrava with its neighbours, while bus and tram links serve the wider Albufereta district. The name recalls traditional fixed-net fishing, although the modern beach is now defined by residential life and recreation rather than an operating almadraba fishery.
Almadrava forms a shallow sandy indentation protected by low breakwaters and rocky edges. The beach looks across a broad section of Alicante Bay, with Serra Grossa and the city coastline visible in one direction and Cabo de la Huerta in the other.
The backdrop is urban but low in scale, combining palms, apartments, marina structures and a narrow promenade. There are no dramatic cliffs; the visual appeal comes from calm proportions, reflected evening light and the transition from sandy bathing area to the rougher rock of the cape.
