About Playa Marina del Este

The Vibe

Marina del Este feels contained, nautical and active around the water. Families use the mixed dark shore, while snorkellers and beginner divers explore the rocky edges and sheltered-looking cove. The beach attracts visitors from nearby residential areas and the marina, so its modest space can fill quickly in summer.

The cove is about 250 metres long and roughly forty metres wide. Restaurants, showers, accessible routes and water-sports services make it convenient, but the atmosphere remains more intimate than a long urban promenade beach. Boats and diving activity add movement throughout the day.

The Setting

About Playa Marina del Este

Playa Marina del Este is a compact cove beside the marina of the same name, beneath Punta de la Mona near La Herradura. The beach is also associated locally with the Ensenada de los Berengueles, a name widely used for its clear water and accessible snorkelling and diving.

The Local Anchor

Puerto Deportivo Marina del Este is the immediate landmark. Its docks support sailing, diving schools, boat trips and waterfront dining, giving the beach a clear relationship with leisure navigation.

Punta de la Mona separates this cove from La Herradura and has long served as an important coastal reference. Almunecar's wider heritage includes Phoenician settlement, Roman fish processing and Islamic fortification, while the local cuisine combines seafood with subtropical fruit from the nearby valleys.

The Landscape

Dark gravel and sand occupy a small bay between Punta de la Mona and the Roque de las Caballas. Rocky cliffs contain hollows and small underwater caves, helping support the marine biodiversity that attracts snorkellers and novice divers.

The marina lies immediately beside the beach, with white buildings and wooded slopes rising behind. The view is enclosed compared with the open shores of Velilla or San Cristobal. Marina del Este's character comes from this close arrangement of beach, rock, harbour and clear Mediterranean water. The nearby marina also makes boat traffic more visible than at Almunecar's town beaches. Rocky entries at the sides reward careful exploration, but the central bathing area remains the easiest place for families to settle.
