Playa de sa Conca

The beach feels refined but remains popular and family-oriented. Summer brings swimmers, snorkellers and visitors arriving along the coastal path, while the width of the sand provides more room than many nearby coves. Services and road access make it practical for a full day. The beach is also a popular stopping point for walkers exploring the S'Agaro shoreline.

The two sections differ underwater. One has a mainly sandy bottom, while the other contains more rock and attracts snorkellers. Entry can become deep relatively quickly, so families should supervise children closely and all bathers should follow flags.

Sa Conca is a broad beach beside S'Agaro, divided into two sections by a low rocky islet. Coarse golden sand, clear-looking water and the elegant villas above the coast give it one of the most distinctive settings in the Castell-Platja d'Aro municipality.

S'Agaro is the defining anchor. The garden-city development was shaped in the early twentieth century by Josep Ensesa and architect Rafael Maso, combining formal architecture, landscaped spaces and respect for the coastal setting.

The Cami de Ronda passes above and around the beach, linking Sa Conca with the monumental seafront of S'Agaro and Sant Pol bay. Port d'Aro marina lies nearby in the opposite direction, providing restaurants and a more contemporary nautical atmosphere.

Sa Conca is about 394 metres long and divided by its rocky central feature. Coarse sand slopes towards the water, with pine, landscaped gardens and substantial houses framing the back of the beach.

The bay opens southeast, while low headlands provide some visual enclosure. Rocks near the central islet and edges create underwater interest but also require care when waves are present.

The beach succeeds through contrast: accessible yet scenic, developed yet softened by gardens, and large enough for families while retaining the form of a Costa Brava bay. Walking the coastal path is the best way to understand how Sa Conca fits between S'Agaro's historic architecture and the modern marina landscape.
