About Playa D'es Monestrn
The beach has a relaxed family atmosphere, with residents, walkers and visitors from nearby apartments sharing the sand. It is convenient for a few hours by the water and connects naturally with the long promenade linking Sant Antoni and Palamos.
The sea can appear gentle inside the bay, although wind and moderate waves still occur. Bathers should follow flags, keep away from watercraft channels and remain cautious near the stream outlet after heavy rain. The sand is comfortable for walking and informal games, while the promenade makes an easy route for pushchairs and evening strolls.

The Setting
Platja d'Es Monestri lies at the eastern end of Sant Antoni de Calonge, close to the boundary with Palamos. It continues the broad sandy bay but feels slightly more residential and local than the central resort sections farther west.
The Collet area behind the beach gives Es Monestri its strongest historical reference. The former Benedictine site and the sanctuary of Santa Maria del Mar stand near the coast, while the remains of an ancient Roman villa add another layer to the area's long settlement.
Palamos is close to the east, with its fishing harbour, fish market and old streets. Sant Antoni's promenade and restaurants extend westward, allowing the beach to serve as a quiet link between two different waterfront communities.
Es Monestri occupies a gently curving section of fine golden sand. The beach is urban, with buildings and promenade close behind, but the bay remains broad and the Palamos headland helps frame the eastern view.
A stream reaches the sea nearby, influencing sand and water after periods of rain. The shoreline changes gradually rather than ending at dramatic cliffs, and the transition towards Palamos is visible in harbour structures and denser town development.
The appeal is understated. Es Monestri offers an accessible beach, a long walking route and unusually rich historical surroundings within a compact area. It is well suited to visitors who prefer local atmosphere and cultural context over the busiest resort centre.
