About Playa Xiorto
Xiorto has a livelier and more spacious character than the smaller coves nearby. Families, swimmers and visitors staying in Raxo use the beach throughout the summer, while the long shoreline gives walkers room to move even when the central areas are busy.
The water often looks sheltered, but local wind can travel along the ria and create chop. The beach works well for swimming when conditions are suitable, gentle paddling and sitting with a clear view across to Marin. Its urban setting means that food and everyday services are never far away.

The Setting
Xiorto is the longest urban beach at Raxo, stretching west from the village harbour along the northern shore of the Ria de Pontevedra. Fine sand, easy access and a broad estuary outlook make it one of Poio's most practical beaches for a full seaside day.
Raxo harbour marks the eastern end of the beach and gives Xiorto its clearest local identity. The village developed around fishing and the sea, and boats remain part of the view from the sand.
A coastal promenade and local streets connect Xiorto with Raxo beach and Sinas. Farther east, the Poio shoreline leads towards Chancelas and Combarro; westwards, the road continues towards the beaches of Sanxenxo. This location makes Xiorto a useful base for exploring both sides of the ria coast.
Xiorto runs for roughly 400 metres in an urban setting on the western side of Raxo harbour. The beach has fine sand and a gently curving profile, with buildings and roads behind it rather than dunes or open countryside.
The view reaches across the Ria de Pontevedra to the Marin shore, while Tambo Island sits farther east. Boats entering and leaving Raxo add movement to the landscape without dominating the entire beach.
The tide changes the width of the strand and the distance to the water. Lower water reveals a broader walking area; higher tide brings the sea closer to the developed edge. Despite its accessible position, Xiorto still feels connected to the estuary because the open water, distant hills and harbour activity remain visible from almost every part of the sand.
