About Playa de Can Villar
The atmosphere is active without feeling dominated by a hotel district. Families settle near the easiest access, walkers use the long shoreline and regular swimmers favour the supervised area when conditions allow. The greater width provides room for games and sunbathing, although summer weekends can still become busy.
The coast is exposed to Mediterranean wind and waves. The riera can also affect the shore after heavy rain, so visitors should avoid discoloured runoff and follow local signs. Boat channels and marked activity areas need to remain clear.

The Setting
Can Villar is a broad urban beach on the western side of Sant Pol de Mar, close to Parc del Litoral and the channel of the local riera. Golden sand, open sea views and more room than the central coves make it a practical choice for families and longer beach visits.
Parc del Litoral is the immediate anchor, providing green space and access between the beach and town. A surviving Civil War fortification near Can Villar adds a less expected layer of history and is sometimes included in local heritage walks.
Sant Pol's centre lies east along the coast, with Les Barques, the railway station and the old village forming the municipality's historic heart. The steep streets, church of Sant Jaume and elevated hermitage of Sant Pau are all close enough to combine with a day on the sand.
Can Villar occupies a relatively open section of shoreline, with coarse golden sand and a broad Mediterranean horizon. The railway and road remain close behind parts of the beach, while the park and riera create breaks in the built frontage.
Storms can alter the shape of the beach and the outlet of the riera. In calm periods the shore feels generous and straightforward; after rough weather, steeper sand banks or drift material may appear.
Looking west, the coast continues towards La Murtra and Roques Blanques. Eastward, the beach leads into central Sant Pol. Can Villar is therefore both a destination in its own right and a useful starting point for understanding how the town's urban beaches connect with its quieter natural sections.
