Playa de la Ampolla

The atmosphere is sociable and organised. Families use the gently shelving shore, children move between sand and play areas, and the promenade keeps restaurants and town services close. Summer occupation is high, but the beach is wider than El Portet and better able to absorb the steady movement of visitors.

The bay often looks calm, yet flags remain the correct guide to swimming. Patches of rock or stone can occur near the water and at the margins, while marked nautical zones must be respected. Early morning suits quieter swimming and walking; later hours bring the full rhythm of central Moraira.

L'Ampolla is Moraira's largest and busiest urban beach, a fine-golden-sand bay immediately south of the marina and below the town's small coastal castle. Its central position, broad facilities and easy connection with the streets of Moraira make it the municipality's most practical all-day family beach.

Castillo de Moraira stands at the northern end of the beach. The squat eighteenth-century fort was built to defend the coast and now forms the town's clearest historic landmark, linking the modern resort frontage with a period when watch and protection were essential.

The marina and former fishing harbour lie just beyond the castle. Moraira retains strong maritime traditions, including celebrations connected with the Virgen del Carmen, while the compact centre provides a market, restaurants and everyday services within a few minutes of the sand.

L'Ampolla forms a broad urban curve of fine sand with low development behind it. The castle and harbour frame the northern end, while the coastline continues south towards Les Platgetes and L'Andrago. Green slopes and distant mountains appear beyond the town on clear days.

The beach's identity comes from balance rather than wildness: a generous sandy foreground, sheltered-looking water and Moraira's most recognisable buildings close by. It is the place where the town and coast meet most directly, offering convenience and local character without the scale or vertical development of a major Costa Blanca resort.
