About Playa del Portet

The Vibe

The beach feels elegant and relaxed, especially early in the day before limited space fills, particularly outside the busiest midsummer weeks. Families value the gentle entry in settled conditions, while paddleboards, kayaks and small craft add quiet activity across the bay. Cafes and homes line the shore without creating the scale of a large resort promenade.

Popularity is the main practical constraint. The narrow strip of sand becomes crowded in summer, and parking in the surrounding streets can be difficult. Water conditions should still be judged by flags and local guidance, because shelter from the headland does not remove every effect of swell, boat movement or changing wind.

The Setting

About

El Portet is a small crescent-shaped beach on the northern edge of Moraira, sheltered beneath the Cap d'Or headland. Fine sand, shallow-looking turquoise water and a narrow promenade create one of Teulada-Moraira's most intimate and recognisable coastal settings.

The Local Anchor

Cap d'Or rises immediately to the east and gives El Portet its distinctive enclosure. A signed walking route climbs towards the sixteenth-century watchtower on the headland, where the higher ground opens broad views over Moraira, the bay and the Marina Alta coast.

Moraira's marina and former fishing town lie around the next point to the southwest. The harbour, castle and compact centre provide restaurants and everyday services while remaining separate enough for El Portet to preserve its quieter village-like atmosphere.

The Landscape

The beach curves around a shallow bay beneath pale rocky slopes and low white buildings. Fine sand occupies the central shore, with rock appearing towards the edges and underwater margins. The headland limits the eastern horizon, while the western view opens towards Moraira.

This enclosed shape creates the beach's postcard quality: clear-looking water, a small arc of sand and Cap d'Or forming a protective backdrop. El Portet is not remote or undeveloped, but the scale remains human and close. Its strongest appeal is the way promenade, headland and bay fit together within a short, walkable stretch of coast.
