About Playa de Cap Negret
Cap Negret feels spacious and practical rather than decorative. Walkers follow the shore, anglers use quieter sections and swimmers choose places where the pebble entry is manageable. The beach attracts people who prefer room and open views, although the uneven stones are less comfortable for small children or anyone expecting soft sand.
Water shoes are valuable, and getting in and out can require care when waves move the pebbles. Wind is more noticeable on this open section of bay, and the river mouth can influence local conditions after rain. Visitors should respect flags, avoid entering close to any marked water-sport area and never assume clear water means a simple exit.

The Setting
Playa de Cap Negret is a long pebble beach on the northern side of Altea, extending around the mouth of the Algar River. Darker stones among the pale shingle and a more open coastal setting give it a rougher, less polished character than the central promenade beaches.
The Algar River is the defining local feature, meeting the Mediterranean at the southern end of the Cap Negret sector. The river corridor creates a green break in Altea's built coastline and is used by birds as well as walkers following nearby paths.
The old town and central promenade lie to the south, while Villa Gadea, Cala del Soio and L'Olla continue northward. Cap Negret is therefore a transition beach: close enough to Altea for services, yet far enough from La Roda to feel broader and less urban.
Rounded pebbles and darker rock fragments form a long, gently curving shoreline beneath low development and coastal vegetation. The lack of fine sand gives the waterline a sharper texture, especially when waves roll the stones.
Serra Gelada closes the bay to the south, while the northern view leads towards Mascarat and the mountain-backed coast. The river mouth, open sky and dark-toned stones distinguish Cap Negret from neighbouring beaches. Its landscape is not secluded, but it retains a strong natural element within Altea's continuous waterfront.
