Playa Cala del Soyo

The cove feels informal and lightly serviced. Visitors come for a quick swim, quiet sunbathing on the stones and snorkelling around the rocky margins when the sea is calm. Its limited size means it can feel full with relatively few people, while outside peak hours it offers a peaceful pause along the coast.

Footwear is useful both on the beach and in the water, where rounded stones can shift underfoot. There is little natural shade, and the rocky entry is less forgiving than a sandy family beach. Swimmers should assess waves and visibility carefully, particularly near the sides of the cove or after windy weather.

Cala del Soio is a small rocky cove on Altea's northern urban coast, between the Cap Negret and L'Olla sectors. Pebbles, rock shelves and clear-looking water give it a compact, local character that differs from the longer promenade beaches closer to the town centre.

The nearby Villa Gadea area and the coastal road provide the main reference points, with Cap Negret to the south and L'Olla to the north. This is part of Altea's lived-in shoreline, where low residential development, small coves and traditional beach houses sit between larger named beaches.

Altea's old town remains the wider cultural anchor. Its white streets and domed church rise above the bay, while the fishing harbour and central promenade are farther south. Cala del Soio should not be confused with Solsida, the official naturist beach closer to Porto Senso.

The shore occupies a small break in a predominantly rocky coastline. Coarse pebbles and low rock platforms define the waterline, with vegetation and buildings on the slope behind rather than a continuous seafront promenade.

Views open across Altea Bay towards Serra Gelada in the south and the steeper northern coast towards Mascarat. The cove's appeal is modest and close-scale: a few metres of stone, transparent shallows in settled weather and the feeling of being tucked between better-known beaches without leaving the municipality's coastal strip.
