Playa de la Solsida

Naturism is an established part of Solsida's identity, so visitors should approach the beach with respect and discretion. The mood is quiet and independent, appealing to people who value space, simple swimming and careful snorkelling more than promenades or organised entertainment. Quiet weekday mornings best reveal that independent character.

Access and the stony surface make preparation important. Suitable footwear, water and sun protection are sensible, and anyone with reduced mobility should check the route before setting out. The water is often protected enough for underwater observation, but rocks become slippery and conditions can change, so entry should be cautious rather than casual.

Playa de la Solsida is Altea's official naturist beach, a discreet pebble-and-rock shore north of the town near Porto Senso marina. Its limited development and position below coastal slopes give it a private, natural atmosphere, although it is not an untouched or easily serviced cove.

Porto Senso marina lies close to the cove and provides the clearest modern landmark on this stretch of Altea's coast. Farther south are L'Olla and Cap Negret, while the dramatic Mascarat corridor and Sierra de Bernia frame the northern horizon.

Altea's old town, crowned by the blue-and-white domes of the church of Nuestra Senora del Consuelo, is visible from many points around the bay but is not beside Solsida. Services are concentrated around the marinas, residential areas and town beaches, so visitors should not expect the facilities of La Roda or L'Espigo here.

Large pebbles, boulders and rock shelves form the shore beneath scrub-covered slopes. The beach is narrow in places, and the available space changes with sea conditions. Low development above the coast is partly screened by vegetation, preserving a stronger sense of separation than on central Altea's waterfront.

The rocky seabed can support varied marine life and clear views when the sea is settled. Solsida's character comes from texture rather than soft sand: pale stone, darker underwater rock, green slope and the broad blue of Altea Bay.
