Playa de la Granadella

The cove is visually secluded but extremely popular, and summer demand can make its limited space feel intense. Visitors come for swimming, snorkelling, diving and kayak trips when conditions allow, while local restaurants add activity close to the shore. Early arrival helps, but seasonal vehicle controls and parking arrangements should always be checked before setting out.

Pebbles and submerged rocks require secure footwear, and the steep surrounding terrain concentrates access through a small area. Clear water does not guarantee calm conditions; swell, wind or boat movement can make entry difficult. Anyone exploring beyond the marked bathing zone should use appropriate equipment and understand that rocky cliffs offer few easy exit points.

La Granadella is a small gravel-and-pebble cove on Xabia's southern coast, enclosed by steep wooded slopes and clear-looking Mediterranean water. At roughly 160 metres long, it offers an intimate rocky-shore experience very different from the broad urban beach at El Arenal.

The Castell de la Granadella route begins near the cove and leads through the coastal landscape to remains of an eighteenth-century defensive fortification. The route gives historical context to a shore once watched for maritime threats and now approached mainly for recreation.

Behind the beach lies the Granadella Forest Park, a large protected area of Mediterranean scrub and pine landscape. It forms Xabia's southern green lung and explains why fire risk, access controls and responsible behaviour are taken seriously. The cove's restaurants and small buildings do not diminish the importance of that surrounding natural area.

White and grey pebbles fill a narrow inlet between limestone slopes. Pine and scrub descend towards the water, while the cove's curved shape limits the horizon and intensifies the colour contrast between rock, vegetation and sea. Boats may gather offshore in settled weather, adding movement to an otherwise enclosed scene.

Granadella is not an undiscovered beach, and its beauty depends on careful management of heavy seasonal interest. The strongest impression comes from scale: a small strand held within a much larger forested ravine. Respecting access rules, carrying out waste and avoiding fire risks help preserve the landscape that makes the cove exceptional.
